Context

PowerUp Money helps Indian investors choose and manage their mutual funds. Onboarding has multiple sub steps: verify number, add basic details, share your PAN, fetch your portfolio, portfolio analysis and final portfolio reveal.

I’ve owned it since launch, over the last 3 years have made major updates, as the solo designer from visuals to motion.

Impact of the project

Over 3 years, onboarding carried 1M+ investors from first open to their portfolio. Completion was stable at x% as per my knowledge. When MFCentral’s full flow added steps in Jan 2026, completion dipped to x% and recovered to y%.

What I learned

Trust is designed at the moment of the ask. Reassurance that sits right next to the PAN field did more than any intro screen.


Onboarding is never done. It keeps changing as the business, the regulator or the partner changes, so design it to be changed.
